Are radio1 envious of simon cowell and his x-factor brand?
I heard radio 1 slagging off simon cowell on the radio in the week.
However thinking about this,are they scared of the competition?after all radio 1 is also guilty of launching careers that dont last either!

Radio 1 should remain a quality station dedicated to promoting new artists of quality.
Not the drivel that Simon Cowell churns out.
Good for them in slagging him off.

There are three potential reasons why they may be bitter towards Simon Cowell.
1. I think it was on Newsbeat this week where they were saying that X Factor has ruined the fun of the xmas number one by releasing Leona's single this week. Now everyone knows who will most prob be no1 and so its taken the fun out of it.
2. In his book Cowell says that he much preferred having Dr Fox as a judge on "Pop Idol" rather than a Radio 1 Dj. That can't have gone down too well.
3. Shows like Chris Moyles' are funny because of his out spoken style. He'll make fun out of anyone without being too slanderous. It makes good radio.

I don't think they are jealous of him. I think it is the fact that most of his acts are of the manufactured pop variety that radio 1 are not that keen on. Plus they like the xmas number one to be a surprise (to try to get more listeners to the top 40 rundown), but now it is quite obvious that leona will be number one on sunday
