I am interested in buying a particular merc van, it has 180K on the clock, I have been told that this isn't much for a Merc van. Any opinions please

Er........I've never owned a Merc Van, but it's usually recommended that anything over about 90,000 to 100k mileage as a second hand car should be avoided unless they're dirt cheap and in excellent condition otherwise.

Mercedes-Benz is (in my 'umble opinion), the best mass car producer in the world though, so perhaps it's still a good, reliable runner anyway.

I would say find out what the high mileage is due to? If it was a lot of short journeys, over a long period of time I wouldn't bother.

Also does the keeper/owner have the FSH (full service history) to hand?
A useful book to buy is Parker's Car Price Guide (around £5), that will give you a Good/Fair/Trade price for your make and reg plate of any car in the last 5 yrs or so.

Happy Driving!

if the van has been looked after and has a service history to prove it has been regularly serviced that sort of mileage is fine, those vans are built to last and be reliable, to be sure have a mechanic look at it but i would not be put off with those miles at all, have seen 500 000 miles on them regularly
