Your IQ score is just a measure of how well you can do a certain test. Everybody who has ever run a marathon is happy to state their time, no matter how slow, but there seems to be a stigma about stating your IQ. BTW, I think mine is about 140. I'm cool with that.

According to the SAT I took in 1994, my IQ is about 163 (1590 SAT). I scored 157 on Ravens APM (SD 15).

There's a stigma around IQ because people associate it with intelligence, which is also associated with your genes, so it becomes a touchy topic for some people. I personally don't care, and openly discuss intelligence issues with people. I think denying it and covering things up only makes the problem worse.

As I see it, IQ measures your intelligence fairly well, in the areas that the test is testing. In order to test IQ, you have to first define intelligence. The problem is, you can't properly define intelligence, which is why noone can agree on how meaningful IQ scores are. Statistically IQ is pretty important, but from person to person IQ can often inflate a persons abilities or deflate them.

IQ is kind of like penis size. People like to lie about it and say it's larger than it actually is. Also, it's more about how you use it rather than how big it is. Just because it's huge doesn't mean you use it to the best of your abilities. That goes for brains and penises ;)

The last time I took an IQ test I believe the score was 11. This was higher than when I took it as a teen which I do not understand since I thought that your score was constant throughout life. Anyway anyone who thinks the number is important or would just like to know their score can take a test at this web site. The number does not make me uneasy. If I am asked, I would readily divulge the information.

My spouse and I took one of those online IQ tests, and I scored 5 points higher than her......and I havn't let her forget it!!

I think I scored a 130 or a 135.

But I think those online tests are worth squat, so who knows what my IQ really is.

No stigma
rated at a 165 with a potential at the time for a 190

That was done 20 years ago as I entered college

The tester said that it was 'merely a measure of what I knew, and what I should expect to know in a 'few years'

It's considered gauche because people use the number to try to establish their place in the pecking order. One does not earn one's IQ any more than one earns one's shoe size.

I never really looked into it. It doesn't make me feel uneasy because its just a number and not who I am. So I never really cared to find out.
