i want to change my job after being in the supermarket for 5 years on checkouts operator.

i have a application form here and for a stationary shop.

the first question they are asking is:

"Which specific qualities do you possess that you believe make you a suitable candidate for a position at The Staioner?"

and second questions they are asking is:

"What, in particular, appeals to you about working for The Staioner?"

I curious how you figure, being a checkout person is a career?? What institution of higher learning teaches, "price check on condoms 101" Sounds like you're just swapping one dead end job for another one. Both in the same field, sales/customer service. So even if it was considered a career, which in some watered down way, I suppose it could, you are still in the same career, sales/customer service.

Answers to your questions
1) I am a good mindless drone, can press buttons on checkout till.
2) There's no business like slow business.

No I have to shop at tesco because of transport, and there are few other shops around, I wouldnt be saving anything if I paid for the tube and the bus isnt much better. I would like to be near a Lidl. Their fresh food is much cheaper. I dont do the big shop now either. But I have started to eat in a local cafe that does large healthy salads very cheap around 4.50 so I dont need to buy a load of salad myself and the dressings etc..I found I was throwing some of it away anyway. Tescos own brand of beans with toast are back on my menu, and I dont spend as much on junk food since I stopped doing the big shop.

I personally think you are making a BIG mistake.
Stationary really is on the way out. I believe it really will be obsolete in a not too distant future. Paper, pens, pencils and the like, will no longer be needed. Everything will be computerised.
A few years ago, you would have written this 'letter' to a newspaper. You've put it on a computer!
Already the high streets have staitioners on them, and I bet they are struggling at the moment. The only time they are busy is at Christmas.

It's not exactly changing careers if you wish to change from one shop to another... You will still be in Sales. But to get any job I suggest you learn some grammar, and really, answer those questions yourself. It is you, who is applying for the job - not anyone else.

First of all, I'd be sure to spell it "stationery" - otherwise it's just any shop that doesn't move!
