Sometimes I answer from my heart; only to find that the question I have answered was a taunt from an emotionally dysfunctional and mentally deficient moron... Is it worth the effort?

I hate it when I put a lot of effort into crafting a factually accurate and thorough response only to have the asker choose a one-line 'joke' answer as best answer with a comment saying 'nice one, made me laugh' or something like that!

When i ask a question I want to get proper answers but people choosing these silly answers as the best answer kind of ruins everyone's chances as people would rather get their points but writing silly one-liners.

It does not bother me. I can usually tell when a person is not asking a sincere question but is making a joke and I will answer accordingly. But even if I am duped into researching and answering seriously a joke question, I feel I have learned something I would not have if the question had not been raised.

It basically befell to me once and that i as we talk revealed a question about it. The blocker admitted it replaced right into a mistake and all lines of communication opened decrease back up. i do not play that record/block recreation. I confront persons that post some thing impolite in my questions w/ information. each from time to time I lose a question this kind yet i trust extra comfortable protecting my self than allowing the disrespectful remark to bypass unchecked. in the experience that they are impolite to me, they probably were impolite to others and could proceed to attain this if no one calls them on it (or maybe perchance if someone does). so a procedures as answering is going ... i do not ought to respond to any questions. I (usually) basically bypass on away f/ the disrespect. Any answer would qualify the question as valid. definite, i replaced into very much very much surprised at the same time as i replaced into blocked and it stricken me even although i'm confident i'd are transforming into over it rapidly.

I do find myself a little irritated to answer questions correctly and thoroughly, only to have the best answer go to someone who simply says what the asker wants to hear. I answered one question about what would happen if you left soup out cooking at a constant temp for a week (the person specifically asked what would happen if she left it cooking for a week), only to have her final comment be how upset she was that people assumed she actually wanted to leave soup cooking for a whole week. Duh!

However, I can't say that it keeps me up nights. I basically just think "WTF?" for about 10 seconds and then get on with my life.

There are a lot of different people and personalities here, and it's hard to know what people are going for sometimes. Especially when a large number of the people asking questions seem to have a very hard time making their questions clear. Just answer with what you feel is best and hope that it helps them with their problem.
After all, we're not just here for the points, are we? Being a level 7 answer master won't pay my bills or get me dates, so who really cares?

Yes, in the beginning it really hurt me...but now, I just answer the same way, with my heart for those who really seem to need it, otherwise, I don't answer at all. Have you noticed that half of the questions aren't even checked by the askers, they go to voting and just stay there....so it leads me to believe that alot of people are just playing around, so don't take it to heart and enjoy some of these jokes, it helps you to see just what is out there....Hope you can enjoy yourself here, and make a difference with us, the ones that care. Merry Christmas...

you can kind of tell which questions are real and which are not. It doesn't bother me. it is worth the effort, it might help someone who truly wants the answer . just pick and choose carefully.

Live and learn, but try not to take it to heart. Just select what you answer and give your answer. It's not life and death. Be happy. After all, it takes all sorts.

No, don't take it so personally. For every one person who is a jerk there are a couple more you will sincerely be helping.
