as the solstices and equinoxes apply globally, it would seem logical to adopt them as the designated quarter points. they fall every 91 days/13 weeks.

ever since i can remember the stupid system we have has annoyed me!

it is logical to me to divide the year into opposite halfs and then quarters then months weeks days.

i feel i never quite know where i am in the year because of the irratiional nature of the holidays.

whenever i do a task or travel a distance i mentally tick off thestages in halves and quarters:

first point i am a quarter of the way there...
second point..i am half way there and only have to do the same as ive already done to get to the finish.
third point..ive only got a quarter to go.

to me,quarter points which break up the year into 4 time periods of exactly the same duration and provide 4 logical resting points or holiday seasons, and give me the ideal way of breaking up the year in my mind.

does anyone else feel this way?

This is a very old topic. The first reference I saw is from 1956. It could help in some ways, but it would face serious challengers.

Some explanations:

The actual calendar is so entrenched on our habits, it is so old, that the people would found hard to adopt it.

Most of the people love to have a religious-based calendar. Let's face it: our occidental calendar is based on the Christian civilization, who took it from the pagan religious calendars, who took it from....
The people would say the government try to rob their calendar.
And that in our secular, state and religion separated tradition.
And what for the Jew, Chinese, Islamic calendars. Seems to me that Islamic nations would not give their calendar from one of "the occidental demons".

And finally, most of the people wouldn't care, ignoring it. When the metrical system was adopted in France, in the 18's, a ten days week was introduced. Nobody care.

A friend of mine say Islamic calendar are solar-based.

Don't despair. Maybe... one day...

First, I'm not at all sure you can have a secular holy day.
Secondly, 364 factors into 2*2*7*13, so you should go one further and have 13 months of 28 days with one holiday at year's end. You could still declare a holiday every 91 days, which would, indeed, break the year into quarters.
