The simplest way is to use a freeware program called "Folder Lock Box" which puts a password protected folder within My Documents.
Download from
http://www.fspro.net/folder-lock-box/
It works with Windows2000..I use it & can recommend it.
Hope this helps.

The following works in XP and I'm pretty sure it does in 2000 as well:
To make your folders private
Open My Computer.
Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C:), unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.
Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
Double-click your user folder.
Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties.
On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.
If it doesn't, I don't know. Try searching for "protect" or something similar in your Help.

You can't create passwords for My Documents but you can with Zip Folders. Just create a Zip folder, add the files in there, go to file and then "add password".

I recommend you to use the software called 'My Secret Folder'. It enables you to password protect any folder you like, or if you want you cant hide the folder making it completely invisible and inaccessible.
You may download it here:
http://www.winability.com/download/MySecretFolder.exe
PS: if you need the crack ( in case you don't want to pay for the software), then contact me.
