For free games you will need to crack your PSP. This does not mean drop it and break it.
Only some firmware can be cracked.

The duo stick is just Sonys name for a memory stick (cost more of course “It’s a Sony”). This is where the games are held not on the UMD's (the small CD like things) when cracked.
