How can I check my Cingular messages from an international phone when abroad?

I have reception, but I don't want to incur roaming charges, so I 'd like to call Cingular from a landline abroad to check my voice messages- what do I do? Thanks to all answerers.

from a usa land line i call my own number, press * when i get my voicemail, then my password. might work abroad.
