depending on the amount of melanin in your natural skin will determine how dark you go and how fast and how long it will last. I am of African decent so I go very brown and stay that way for months. While others claim not to notice the tan I show them the tan lines. You will need to stay out of the sun. That is all she wrote. No more sun. Your tan could fade in a couple of days or a couple of weeks or a couple of months just depends on your skin. The sun block thing doesn't work. You will still brown if you are in the sun. You will also have cover your exposed skin before you go out. Hat, gloves, long sleeve tops and pants.

Wait for it to fade.
If you don't want to get darker in the sun, use a sunscreen or sunblock and reapply it often. I use an SPF 70, which is the strongest that I could find. I also wear long pants and sleeves and a hat, or a long dress, and if invited will only swim at night.
My old boss and I went to school together and are the same age. She spent her whole adult life tanning in salons and at the beach. When I would mention to someone that we graduated together, they would be shocked, and say: "You're kidding! You look 15 years younger!" I still do. There's a good reason for that. ;)

Exercising in the sun gets your color back faster. The movement brings blood cells to the surface of the skin. That's why little kids get really tan at the pool while their mom's sit outside and don't get very dark. That's probably why you got a little more color than usual. Keep swimming and you'll get your tan back.
The sunlight causes the melanin in your skin to react with the oxygen in the air. Stimulating the blood causes this reaction to happen stronger and faster. When melanin reacts with oxygen, it causes your skin to look tan.

Stay away from the sun for a few day. If you really need to go out, wear long sleeves clothes and jeans. Perhaps a cowboy hat might help too :P
Anyway, your skin tone will get back to natural color of urs. =]

You've just tanned, you're not going to peel. The tan will fade on its own. But there are some natural remedies you can use to speed it up. Fresh tomato, almond oil, milk, yoghurt, lemon juice are all natural lighteners. Rub any one or a combination on your face and arms. It's not an instant fix, but it helps.

Your skin will fade back to it's original tone if you stay out of the sun. It just takes time. If you are going to continue to be in the sun, wear a very strong sunblock.
