My son is severely mentally challenged. He is 17 with the mind of a 5 to 6 y/o. He has bi-polar disorder and anger problems.

My ex-wife has custody of him at the present time.

He has been taking Rispirdal for two years to help with his condition and my ex just stopped giving him his Medication w/o consulting his Doc!

He's having a difficult time controling his mood swings and seems to be very agitated.

I've tried talking with his mom but she won't listen to reason!

What can I do to help him?

Go to court and file charges and be prepared to take custody of him. Does she have any assistance taking care of him? She may be feeling very overwhelmed taking care of him. Not an excuse for not giving him the meds that help him to succeed in daily life. Have you really talked with her and discussed her reasons behind stopping the medications? Good luck and God bless****

Contact his doctor immediately and inform him what she is doing. That could be some form of abuse withholding necessary medication. It is not fair when the child cant make a decision himself. Dont leave it there. Its not right.

I would contact his doctor. Is your son in a day program? I would contact the individual in charge of yours son's progress if he is in a program like this. They may be able to do something as well. Good luck

a child always suffers the most , when his parents fight.... please... ur son is special... he needs both of u'll.... it is very difficult to manage a child like that on ur own... if u can do anything to help ur child u must... it is a decision that parents make... to get a child into this world... then why put the child through all this pain... u and ur wife must be hurting... ur helpless and ur wife is probably doing evrything to get ur attention ... including harming ur child... she may not be doing this consciously... talk to her calmly....
