there r couple of good practical methods.
1. try to stay as a spectator in every situation in life, even if that involves ur own emotions, try to to look at them from a distance(unattached and non-judgemental).
2. try to put ur self in others situation and think from their point of view, think of others as humanbeings and not as competent machiene. humans make mistakes and they r not perfect, even if u r perfect its not everyone else's responsibility to bring them to ur level, if they are happy with their drawbacks, let them be and try to understand and appriciate the fact that happiness and peace are more importent and final goal of everything even of perfection and competence.
3. patience has to be maintained if it is forced upon you, but if it grows out of maturity and compassion there is no question of maintaining it, it comes naturally as a second nature of ur being.
4. meditation. try self hypnosis, that might help, u can get some material on internet about it.
