Undoubtedly our scientific and material progress is only taking us to more and more stress and strife and away from peace and tranquillity both at the individual level as well as at the collective level.

Obviously our priorities are skewed, or else our superior intelligence ought to have at least given us some peace of mind. Instead of addressing our pressing human problems here on earth like poverty, diseases etc. we are gazing at the sky and sending spaceships to Mars and Saturn ...... we are spending billions of man-hours and dollars searching for micro beings on other planets and callously neglecting our own fellow human beings suffering here right at our doorsteps.

We have to reinvigorate humanity and values which we only had evolved with painstaking thought and experience to ensure harmony and well being of our society and now have been thrown into disarray in our quest for personal whims and fancies and prosperity. In order that we can be genuinely free and peaceful, there is no alternative but to bind ourselves with human values and discard materialism of the extreme order that we have lately embraced. On our way to material well being, we have somewhere lost our values and relationships which are the key to peace and happiness.

There is little any one of us can do to reform the whole world ..... but certainly we can follow the ethical and human values at our individual levels and that itself will ensure a lot of peace of mind and happiness for us. So far as the world is concerned, I am sure that our intelligence will see the reality of it all one day and the reform will be brought in collectively, because it is a question of survival..!!
