Instead of water use coolant liquid that never freezes

The easiest way is to add some anti freez liquid with the water. I am sure you have access to it, as i presume you live in a cold climate area. You can use some of the anti-freez that you have for your radiator water.

One other option will be to drain the water in the evening. you can drain the radiator's water as well... Its cheap, easy and effective... No need for buying Anti-freez then.

Hot water also helps in the morning. but it wont unfreeze the water in the pipes.

Keeping your car switched on for a few minutes or an hour will have no affect on water used to wash the window.

You'd be better off adding some anti-freeze windscreen wash to the bottle and then it won't freeze. Halfords do some in lurid pink and green but they come out clear when you use the water. Once you add the anti-freeze windscreen wash make sure you wash both front and rear windows to replace the water that's already in the pipes as this won't have the additive and will still freeze.

You may have to just wait for it to thaw with the heat of the engine. I would suggest that, when it has thawed, top it up with an anti-freeze washer fluid. This will save the problem happening again and will also clean your windscreen better.
