Try to find out why you are not sleeping first before you try drugs.
Too much caffeine can make you not sleep well. Too much sugar during the day. Not eatting well also can effect the way you sleep.
If you feel you need to try something try an herbal tea first.

Hi Cindy,
Try something natural, like drinking hot milk before bed (yuck!) or wearing socks when you sleep (if you live someplace cold). Also, you can try a relaxing bath before bedtime.
They say a handful of walnuts will aid you to fall asleep. Try one of these or a combination of two, and I'm sure you won't need to turn to pills, which by the way, could get you hooked after which you won't be able to sleep until you take it every night.
Don't let it happen.
GoodLuck and Sweet Dreams...
Yvonne.

Just yesterday I spoke with my doctor about not sleeping.....the outcome was as a result of my checking out the PM medicines and the new "wonder" sleep aid (Rozerem/Ramelteon) which uses Meletonin a natural non-habit forming sleep aid. I have been using melatonin and it works great. You can buy it at any Natures Pantry or any such natural supplement store. It is very cheap compared to all the expensive such as Rozerem. All the other over the counter sleep aids use chemicals.

Sleeping pills are not good. The easy way is to just close your eyes and concentrate on the first thing that you see after you have closed your eyes. It can be any thing, any dot, or any figure.....just concentrate on this point.....stop thinking everything and go on following this figure till it takes you more and more deep inside........and you will never know when you got sleep. The important thing is to stop thinking. If you will seriously try this. You will succeed.

You may first need to determine the cause of your sleeplessness. You should check with your doctor first. Taking something to help you sleep may not solve the problem of sleeplessness in the long run.
Aside from those already suggested, you may want to try relaxing teas like chamomile.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Don't take sleeping pill. Instead, use a fan in the background as white noise to make you go to sleep.
