To me, he looks the coolest player wearing it...steve francis and melo looks good in it too...you need a hip hop look to pull it off...when i see some bulky 7 feet center with shaggy hair wearing it it looks ridiculous...

I don't think that Allen Iverson ever meant for the shooting sleeve to be a fashion statement as he was using it to protect a (then) recently surgically repaired elbow.

Eventually, it caught on, as Iverson is one of the more popular players in the NBA. He is one of those special players that can sell out opponents arenas on name recognition alone.

I think appearance is a big deal to most players in the NBA and especially since its a "hip hop" league so to speak. I could be mistaken but Iverson was the first with it on his arm and TMac was the first with it on his leg, and I think it was unique to those players. I hate when everyone starts doing it but they were the originators so it is cool for them to do it. I dont know exactly if it serves any purpose but it is pretty cool. I dont think it would be nearly as stylish if Iverson sucked LoL, but he is one of the top players in the league so he can pull it off...
