I love Uni Qlo's sweaters, they're warm, soft and not too expensive. Uni Qlo is a clothing store in Japan that carries winter clothing and other reasonably priced basics. I think it's available in the US and UK too.

When I was in the US, I loved Old Navy and Gap sweaters. It gets softer with wash and it's reasonably priced too.
