I was highly disappointed that my family wouldn't support my plan to go to graduate school for a Masters in Public History degree. Since I was in the last year of my undergraduate studies and I had no clue what I would do if I didn't go to graduate school, I started looking at overseas job sites just for fun. Then my university had a job fair with an organization that could place you with an ESL job in China. I jumped at the chance and I'm on my 4th year in China. I think my folks wished they had supported my plan to get that masters degree. I would still be stateside, probably working in a museum somewhere, and a heck of a lot closer to home.

I would smile and wistfully recall a Christmas when I was 6 years old and I did not get that pony I had prayed every night that Santa would bring me.

I would continue to say that I learned a that early age that sometimes things do not go the way we want them to go and that I can be happy without getting everything I want.

I was damn sure about my selection for the post but i didn't turn to be the luckiest one and this disappointed me a lot. Then I realized that for few there is appointment and for the rest there is disappointment. Every no says" new Opportunity".
