history is not an independent study it is confluence of all knowledge. to relate to the french revolution we have to look at many aspects reflecting it, for examples art and literature of the time, paintings in that time frame reflect history through them
one good example is "death of Marat" by Jacques-Louis David

literature has all ways a link to history due to authors drawing from life experience, and perhaps that is the best explanation.
history is life, therefore everything influences it

There was a time when all the disciplines were one, philosophy encompassed everything. Slowly the disciplines separated and now there is a different discipline for every subject its a matter of expertise I guess. Therefore history is an indepenent discipline and not a method.

Method, definitely. There is historical context to any subject to be studied....and there is usually some discipline behind 'history' courses as well (could be war, social, or inanimate). That's my vote!
