"practice, practice, and practice"...when in doubt..."practice"...
It takes time and patience to be motivated enough to find the strength to keep going, and trying.
I was deathly scared of getting on the ice, but once I found my comfort zone, even if it was hanging onto the rail, all the way around the rink, it made it more easier for me to just 'be on the ice' and not freaking out, or scared that I might fall. Once I got comfortable enough that I didn't need to hang onto anything, I would simply just stand there, on the ice, and when there were several people with me, who would skate around and have fun, I was more encouraged and determined to start moving around more, on my own. It was okay, at first, and I have to admit, I'm not the best skater, still, but I've taken on that challenge, and I'm comfortable where I'm at now. I'm 36, and it may take 10 years before I'm comfortable in skating, casually, but at least I'm putting effort into it. I waited until I was like...30 before I stepped onto the ice, though. That's a lot of years to pass before trying that kind of skill!! I'm too old to be doing any back-flips or twirls, on the ice, but as long as I can skate one foot in front of the other, and slide, easily on the ice, without the lip-stands, then I'm okay, and I know I've accomplished a lifelong task!!

Never say "never" and Never say "can't"...you CAN, you CAN, YOU CAN!! It's all in the adrenaline, and how you want to succeed in achieving this!! You have to picture yourself doing it, first, and then, by all means, get out there, and just keep trying, keep moving, and for Pete's sake, don't give up!!!

:-)

There is nothing I can't do. If I'm not getting it, I just need to try harder. Or try a new approach.
