My friend bought a GLS in March earlier this year. I've driven it a few times since. I can assure you that I have consistently been the fastest guy on the road. There is a lot of torque in the 1.4 liter engine (now only available in the GLX), and the suspension makes it feel like a really big and smooth car.
The gearbox is the only letdown in an otherwise great vehicle. My colleague had already booked an Alto when we went to the Tata showroom. After the test drive there was no looking back.
right now the new GVS comes at an even cheaper price than the alto and has more room and leg space than an esteem. THis car is a great buy. One disclaimer though - I have not driven the lower powered and cheaper 1.2Liter engine. I would also worry about resale price unless Tata's does a better branding and awareness about their petrol vehicles.
My friend is getting about 12kmpl driving through peak city traffic, which is great for a large 5 seater.

I don`t think it is a good car. Tata caters for a third world market, the vehicles reflect that. Maybe it is a good vehicle in India?

for indian markets and indian roads,i think xeta is the best.if you compare its price,maintainance and the power.this car certainly has an edge over other cars in this same segment

don't even think about it,Tata cars no good, havy, noisy, heavy maintenance

no not the xeta .its drive not so smooth as that of any other make like marutis or hyundais....never go for xeta ..simply wastage of money.

it is a nice car i own one its is really nice and i love my car .
