I am a degree holder.I want to do masters in abroad. my name is mis-spelt by one alphabet in my birth-proof(10th memo)for eg:prerna instead of prerana.it is correctly spelt in my degree certificate(prerana).i've got my passport accord' to my birth-proof,spelling 'prerna'.will this pose any problem if i wish to go abroad for my further studies? i've heard that a student who was admitted in a Germany University came back to India to get the spelling mistakes in her certificates corrected.pls help me

Yes, it would. Execute an affidavit through a lawyer stating the reason for it. That would solve the problem.

Normally the authorities will be guided by the name on the passport and school leaving certificate and there should be no question. However, you can easily get the name suitably spelt by approaching the municipal authorities.. They may ask for proof of the correct spelling of the name which you can furnish. Alternatively you can swear an affidavit on suitable stamp paper on oath specicying the correct spelling of your name for their record.This could have been done earlier also but since it has not been done it is better tobe armed with this amendment to avoid embaressment.

Get it corrected NOW, even if it means legally changing your name to what should have been on your birth certificate originally.

If it was a genuine mistake on the part of the registration authorities they MIGHT issue an amended certificate, but in most parts of the world they can be very sticky.

Consult a lawyer . You can get one affidavit regarding correct spelling of your name. This affidavit will help you every where.

This is definately a question for the schools Academic office. It depends what is on your passport, DL, and school records.
