I had protected sex tonight with my husband waiting for the birth control to kick back in after I had our two children and the condom broke. I don't want anymore children right now, where can I get the morning after pill and how does it work?

Most pharmacy's have it and all you have to do is fill out some paper work to buy it. I worked at CVS Pharmacy and I know they have it. Or call the nearest pharmacy to you and ask about it.

You can get it at a pharmacy. In Canada it is over the counter and in America, it might be. Although, if you are taking a combined contraceptive (a pill with both estrogen and progesterone) and have taken it everyday for at least 7 days at the same time everyday and are not on antibiotics, mood stabilisers or st. john's wort, it already has 'kicked in' and there is no need for the morning after pill. Many women think that it takes an entire month to become effective, but this is simply untrue. Often doctors tell their patients this false information to ensure that their patient is in the habit of taking the pill regularly before engaging in barrier free sex because very few women actually take the pill properly and even fewer do during the first month.

If you have BC pills at home, just take three within 24 hours of the unprotected sex. The morning after pill is essentially three pills combined. Warning: you'll want to eat a heavy meal beforehand and you may have tenderness in your breasts.
