No, unfortunately you cannot. It does a system check before it attmepts the install and will recognize that this is not the same system it was designed for. I ran into this once and I got so mad I ended up swearing I would never by another HP product...so far I haven't and that was more than 5 years ago LOL

There are 2 sorts of residing house windows XP: OEM and Retail OEM (unique kit producer) disks: those are approved copies of Win XP made for manufactures for mass distribution. they are frequently more cost-effective than Retail variations, besides the indisputable fact that the drawback is the actual incontrovertible truth that's basically usable with one computing gadget. The code lined with the OEM disc is locked with the motherboard it replaced into initially put in upon. for that reason, in case you replace the motherboard or too a lot hardware, then residing house windows will ask for a license key, and the lined OEM key does not artwork. Retail is the copies offered in shops like superb purchase and different tech shops. i do not thoroughly understand how those copies artwork. to respond to your question, that is unlawful to reproduction an o.e.m disk interior the first position. in accordance to my experience with Microsoft products, there's a sentence that asserts: "do not make unlawful copies of this software". no matter if it wasn't unlawful, your reproduction would expire in thirty days because you'd be unable to turn on residing house windows XP specialist.

I guess it would not work as the data on the recoverydisk would be HP bassed, drivers, cpu and montherboard data.
But worth a try, cant do no harm.
Good luck
