If you go to nhl.com you can access any teams home page. Any sports site will give an estimated time, but it all depends on the injury and the persons will to return.

No I believe going to the teams website is bad advice. A lot of times the team is not interested in exposing that information, and therefore it is up to cleaver reporters to use their investigative skills.

The sites I use for my fantasy hockey is TSN.ca, but also www.thestar.com which has a GREAT "NHL daily slate" that gives the most detailed (often pointless) information. If there is news, those two sites will have it

Most of the sports sites will give you a general answer: espn.com, tsa.ca, si.com, even Yahoo!... but the fact of the matter is that often no one really knows. It depends on the injury. Sometimes you see someone go on the IR for 4-6 weeks, and they are back in 2. Sometimes you see someone who is "day-to-day" for two months. Unless they are on the official injured reserve list, there is usually no real estimate. Even if they are on the IR, often times you do not know that someone is coming back until a day or two before, if that.
