It is wiped out on paper. It is still prevalent, in many parts of the country. The silver lining is that the so called untouchable are now more conscious about their rights and are willing to fight for their rights. If India were to respected by others in world arena, it has to completely eschew this pernicious practice.

Yes in India it is far from extinct in Hindu comunity.
Indian Government is constantly manking laws for the rights of untouchables and backward class people.

I feel shame to utter these words like backward class people. How can people in India practice it?

there is no doubt dt untouchability is still practised.
in many villages,low grade people are not allowed in temples,any festives etc..,

ofcourse its still practised.......not just for the sake of 1s religion but cause those ppl r dirty...u imagine urself living with a person who has not bathed sine months , nd who dont evn was hands after exctreetin...
