At the current rate of growth, the chinese economy could surpass the US economy in the next 10 years. HOWEVER....... Considering the issues that China has with its overpopulation and their need for natural resources at the huge cost of their environment which will influence the health of their citizens, from lack of clean drinking water to air pollution to fighting obesity because of McDonald and other fast food like places taking over the traditional healthy diet of the Chinese, I don't think the economics of China is quite as rosey as you might think. Couple that with inginuity and the constant innovation of the Americans, I would say that Chinas economy will not overshadow the economy of the US.

According to some reports at the present rate of growth the mainland Chinas economy should bypass the U.S economy in about 14 years.

When that happens Chinese bankers and powerful Chinese corporations will more or less dictate the future of the U.S. Economy.

Some economist predict that U.S. labor will be sent to the Chinese mainland to work in factories and low skilled work places that the Chinese population will no longer want to work in. This will be due to the countries incredible economic awaking and high living standard, which will only be toped by Saudi Arabia’s Oil and Medical conglomerate which will control world health and Oil reserves.

At this point the U.S. dollar will no longer be viable on the world market and Americans will be purchasing all items in either Euros or Yuans.

The Honk Kong dollar will no longer exist at this state and Hong Kong itself will be the new play land for the Chinese elite where the Chinese Government will officially sanction gambling and prostitution.

There is NO possibility at all that China will catch up to the US within 10 years, China is much too far behind for that. Vendetta is the one who's right, a reasonable estimate would be about 2050 perhaps.

When and if China's aggregate economy surpasses that of the US it does not mean they'll be controlling the US economy or any of that other nonsense. For example, the US today does not control Europe's economy, despite the fact that Europe is 100% dependent on the US for national defense, American culture dominates Europe, and there are layers and layers of deep ties. Even when China grows much larger it will have FAR less influence than people seem to assume. It will simply be a large market for buying stuff.

Finally, China may never catch up to the US. Its aging demographics and low fertility rate may have a devastating impact on China before they become rich -- there are no guarantees.

hi BS, there's a nil p.c. possibility of China promoting the U. S. Treasury Bonds. remember, China owns approximately $7T in US Tres, and Japan owns approximately $5T. those 2 international locations blended grow to be the lions share people debt. Neither will sell. China IS presently nicely financed, and isn't any longer broke. think of of it as a greater robust half and young ones, China's have been given some money interior the economic business enterprise account, yet they are house is ghetto, and their childrens don't have laptops and fancy outfits, the spouse does not save all day, and everybody works. the U. S. better half and young ones, spends greater then they make. so as that they borrow money from the chinese language family members. China needs their investments risk-free, thats all.

Eventually, yes. In 10 years? I'm not so sure.

China and the U.S. are headed towards a war within our lifetimes. It will occur when our two economies collide and peak oil is announced.
