since the attacks of 9/11 we haven't won a world series yet we continue to have the best team what is going on ?????

We went away from the formula that made the Yankees great in 1996-2000. We started to buy up all the best talent available and traded away the youth that was the backbone of those championships. That was our downfall. The team was made up of all-stars that didn't play like a team. Getting Sheffield and Rodriguez hurt us because they lack the Team Concept. The team was very competitive but lacked the chemistry that wins championships. With the trades that they have done and the restraint they have shown this preseason maybe the Yankees can put it all back together. I like their chances in 2007.

It's the playoff system. It devalues the regular season to begin with plus the short 5 game first round is detrimental to the game. The fact the the 83-78 Cardinals won the playoffs proves what a joke the system really is. They're not the world champions. They're not even one of the best 10 teams in baseball. The Phillies were a better team and because of a screwed up system never even got the chance to make the playoffs. I think it sinks. Everyone with any baseball sense knows the Yankees are the best team in baseball. It doesn't matter that they haven't won the series. The series doesn't mean crap anymore.

I think they probably do have the best team on paper, but I don't see that they have a winning team spirit. It's as if they have 25 superstars and none of them work together.
You don't necessarily need the best players to win. You need a team that will work together. With the Yankees they have no role players.

Poppycock!! If "you" had the best team, you would be winning the World Series. That the Yankees signed Pettite and hope to sign Clemens shows they live in the past and expect past glory to carry them forward. It won't, and the Yankees are stuck in place.

I doubt it's the 9/11 attacks. The yanks have so much pressure on them because they are expected to win every year. Too much pressure.
