i belive it. i think animals are just a zoomed out version of humans so i think if we look at them we can understand ourselves. in the nature the weak has no power. strength= authority. and in our case it is similar but a little different. if we did not have other powers than physical powers (like the animals) we would completely be like them. but since we have other powers like money, society and stuff like that things change a little bit. but still i agree that we unconsciously seek others based on a gene selection.

We select our mates based (at least partially) on the MHC class genes. They are the genes on our antibodies. There has been studies done where there are 10 male rats with the same MHC class genes in a population. Then the scientists put the ten male rats in a population of 20 female rats, 10 of which have the same MHC class genes as the male. The 10 male rats mate with the 10 female rats who have different MHC class genes from the male rats.

I think people that smell good to you have the most different genes from you (pheromones I think). Like if you have immunities to some stuff but not other stuff then a person that smells good to you has the opposite immunities so that your offspring have the most variety of immunities and will survive better. But this is just what I've heard. So, yeah, I think most people don't know it but they are trying to find a good mate using a lot of different methods.

I think there is probably something to that, although I think some people choose tried and true gene combinations that have worked for centuries, or even longer, and some people select for new hybrids to create a novel mix, and there are probably some people who select for a mix of both of these things, so it would be a pretty tough thread to unravel.
