I bought a clone on september 12, 2006. The processor is a VIA Samuel 2 (or something close to that). Since that time, I have had to buy three keyboards since the others get totally unfunctional. When they get spoilt, the first indication is all the lights (Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock) on or blinking even when the machine itslef is off but connected to active power supply. And that's the end of the keyboards.
At first I thought it was virus activity but having installed the latest anti-virus software, no virus was detected. What could be the problem?

I would think that the keyboards them selves are burning out not due to the mother board. If you are putting your computer to sleep then it is still technically on, if this is the case i would say, turn it off instead. Have you tried using the keyboards on a different computer to be sure they are dead ? Are they cheap keyboards, like from the thrift store or something ? if none of these are the problem, maybe you need a BIOS flash. or possibly a new MOBO.

Sorry to say that the mobo in your machine maybe is at fault. The "south bridge" chip which controls stuff like the keyboard and mouse may be bad. If the mobo is less than 3 years old try to send it in for repairs. Most mobos carry a 3 year warranty.

go into the systems bios and disable the caps/numbers lock, read the manual on how to do this but don't mess about with any other setting if you don't understand them...
oh and switch off the mains or pull the plug out when computer is not in use
