I myself am an existentialist. I believe we create our own meaning, and there isn't a single concrete answer.

Life isn't about how many or how much or how come. It's how you feel when you take your last breath, stand at the end of the road and take one last look back before you exit.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

Johannes Jacobus van der Leeuw (1893-1934), prominent Dutch theosophical writer:
"The meaning of life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced."

Alan Watts:
"If the goal of dancing were to reach a certain spot on the floor, then obviously the fastest dancer would be the best. The point of dancing is the dance itself."

Bruce Lee:
"People do not live conceptually or scientifically defined lives, for the essential quality of living life lies simply in the living."
"Life is a constant process of relating."

David Bohm, British physicist:
"The trouble with the small self is that it thinks it's the big self."

I believe it is to solve miracles. A miracle is: "an event that can't be explained by known laws of nature." To a wee child everything is a miracle because he knows few if any laws of nature. With his God given curiosity though he sets out to solve these mysteries and is extremely happy doing so. He only becomes sad or angry if he is prevented from solving a problem or there are no visible problems to solve.

Thus is the purpose of life to many and to me. We find during these peregrinations that death is a necessary part of life. And we realize death is the last great miracle we are obliged to solve. We do it in the expectation that an infinite God the creator of all and all miracles will ensure we have ever greater miracles to solve in the hereafter.

There is no magic. There are no secrets. We all begin this race at the start but I have come this far with a truth in my heart. Everyone wants hope, respect, and to be understood.
Is there 'meaning', I don't think so. Just live the best you can.

Life could be a fundamental force in the universe. Asking the question: "What is the meaning of life?" might be similar to asking what is the meaning of magnetism or electricity.

There could be levels of meaning.

Why existence? It takes some type or form of consciousness to ask "why". Life could be a solution to the paradox of existence.

When asking "what is the meaning of life", one actually asks for a command to fullfill...like "what was i supposed to do here". As if send to life like a soldier on a mission.

The answer is offcourse differently answered in any dogma.

Like the christian/muslim/jewish god is you main enemy in life. All you should do is BE AFRAID...very AFRAID. If you dont do what he wants he will give us another noah flood or worse...burn us like 'kebab' in an afterlife oven. He created you for his ego..to serve him...like ...yes master..no master...your are the best...

In short..he is a terrorist and your job here is to act like a submissive slave.

Give him the finger if you dare!

The meaning of life is found when viewing a plant.....

It is planted in the fall while the ground is dormant (Genesis 2:7)

Come winter, the cool ice melt to make the ground fertile. (1 Corinth 3:7-8)

Come Spring, that plant shall prosper and find life...... it shall begin to bud and show signs of life.....

Come summer, the heat of its season shall have that plant in full bloom and having stretched out its arms toward heaven for the light of it..... (John 5:35, John 8:12, 2 Tim 1:10)

Come Fall, the season of its beauty shall wane, and it shall no longer stand upright.... the cool of the air shall bend its back to the ground...... (Job 5:26, Galtians 6:9)

Come winter, its life shall cease to be.... it shall return to the ground from whence it was sown... (gen 3:19, Eccles 12:7)

Shall it again be raised in the Spring as a new budding.....?? ((1 Corinth 15:51-53))

So it is with life.... that we are as seeds of planted things....

your sister,
Ginger

life has no meaning
i am not negative; i am "positively neutral"
the entire universe is one life, and "we" are part of it whether you like it or not, from the beginning to the end
the universe has no meaning to exist; its just there
you can create the meaning of your life for your own life
the whole mistake of our history is to force others to believe it
