You can find lye crystals in the cleaning department in the supermarket or in the hardware store in the cleaning section. Be VERY careful when you add the lye and make sure that you have a well ventillated area befor you start. Even though some of the very mildest soaps, like castille soap (made with olive oil) use lye for soponification, lye itself is very caustic and can cause very severe burns to skin or lungs.

Red Devil lye was recently discontinued. I found other lye and the Local Ace hardware store by the drain cleaners. My grandma use to make lye soap. Be VERY careful with it!

I'll tell you now..stood over a stove of soap scraps once - aint no way I'm goin' back !!!!......PAIN IN THE A*RSE..
There are craftier and more creative stuff out there, that is more user friendly than bloody looking for lye crystals!

They sell Red Devil Lye in the Grocery Store. It's on the bottom shelf by the drano. Careful with that stuff. I've seen Fight Club.

You can buy it at the normal supermarket just be careful when you use them and keep them up!
