The probability of event A is the number of ways event A can occur divided by the total number of possible outcomes
Take an example:

Given that a family of three children has at least one girl, what is the probability that it has exactly three girls?
Solution:
In the family, B represent for boys and G represent for girls

Total number of cases 23 = 8 i.e.
(B, B, B)(B, B, G)(B, G, B)(G, B, B)(B, G, G)(G, B, G)(G, G, B)(G, G, G)

Number of favorable cases = 1 i.e.
(G, G, G)

Required Probability = Number of favourable cases /Total number of cases
= 1/8

Probabilities are the chances that certain events will occur or not. In mathematics, it a branch of mathematics that tries to quantify the notion of probable, the chances of getting a certain event in number. It is invented by Pascal to aid him in winning gambling games.
There is no easy way in solving problems related to probabilities. All you need is to study and understand, do not memorize, the concept of different kinds of probabilities. Patience is all you need in studying it cause there is no easy way to success in understanding probability.

probability is nothing but the no. of chances an event can occur..
probability= no.of favorable events/sample space or total events..

if u need to get 5 favorable things from 7,then the probability of getting them is 5/7 basing on the above formulae..

there r also many types of questions related to this..hope this helps..
