Do you know that everytime you rate an answer (but you can't rate your own) that if that's the way the best answer is chosen you could lose the points even if you have a better answer. I've noticed that's the way alot are chosen. The asker simply doesn't bother to give a best answer and the one with the most ratings gets the points.

Yeah, I do not care for the new "public" forum voting as when I answer a question, I want the feedback of the person asking ONLY!

It's not ratings that get you best answer. It's the number of votes.

No ratings and votes are not the same. You get one point for voting. You get zero points for ratings. When someone asks a question and they don't pick a best answer then it goes into voting. That's where everyone gets to vote for who they think should get the best answer. Ratings are just the thumbs up and thumbs down. If you go in your Q&A you may see some answers that say in voting. You can then vote on questions that you have answered. Giving you an advantage in getting best answer. You can also vote by clicking on a category( ex: polls and surveys) above all the questions you will see answer, discover, vote. When you choose vote all the undecided questions will come up and you can pick a best answer and get a point for it. Notice my high best answer percentage because I know what I'm talking about.

There's a little knowledge for you since you don't know what you're talking about.

I have had a few answers that were highly rated and not yet chosen as the best answer. Then I have had some that I gave a lame one line answer to--and that one was chosen as best answer. Go figure.

Bottom line: so what? It is not like I buy anything with my points.

I vote for my own answer all the time, it's only thumbs up/down ratings you can't give yourself.
