It depends on the grade. Did you check for a mint mark? it is located on the reverse next to the E in one, if there is any. Average condition usually means it is some where between good and fine, in that case the 1923 (mintage 50,130,000) is worth $1-$1.50. If you have the 1923-S (San Francisco) (mintage 6,440,000) $1.75-$5.25. Neither coin is actually scares in average condition.

If the mint mark is "S" it will higher.

If not a "s" mint mark it can be worth anywhere from $1.75 all the way up to $16.oo depending upon the condition. What YOU call "average" could be someone elses treasure or junk.

If it is an "S" mint mark then you are looking at anywhere from $2.50 to $105.oo.

Of course someone in need of this particular dime will always pay more to finish off their collection. Finding THAT person is like a needle in a haystack.

Keep it, protect it and pass it on to your child or other family. You can find a protective cardboard sleeve for it at almost any craft / collectible store in big cities.
