Due to the un-availability of the new PS3, my son seemed to "settle" for asking for an X-Box 360 for Christmas. While shopping at Circuit City for the X-Box 360, it "just so happened" that they just got 5 Playstation 3's come in on the delivery truck. I thought "Wow, rght place, right time"! So, I bought him the PS3 and "Resistance- Fall of man" game for it. Now, I'm wondering if he really has his heart set on the X-Box 360. Think he'll be happy either way?

PS3 is a Total gaming Entertainment Sytem. plays all(most PS one games and PS2 ones as well as the New more expensive $60 PS3 games. It also plays BluRay discs the next evolution in movies. A stand alone bluray player cheapest one is $700 the top line sony's blu ray is $999, I'd say you made a steal. You got both for under $600. If he doesn't love right away he'll learn to loveit. Besides he has a birthday coming sometime there are plenty of 360' out there. The PS3 is rare ,so rare they go for 3 times as much at Amazon and Ebay. One Sold The second day they came out , because they were all sold out everywhere for $15,000.
360' do not play dvd's you need a attachment for $199 to play HD dvd's . PS3's play all dvd's and blu ray already, no need to by anything else. plus the library of games is far better and vast. Sony has games out since 1997. Xbox only since christmas 2000. Hddvd player only plays Hd Dvd's too.

I think if he is disappointed, he needs to be taught a lesson. The problem with the world today is that people have become so obsessed with material things that people have lost sight of what is really important. As a result the true meaning of Christmas has gotten lost in the shuffle. What used to be a time of happiness and generosity, a time of celebrating the birth of Christ has now become all about the latest toy fads( much like PS3 and Xbox 360) rude people, regifting rather than the joy of actual gift giving and receiving and retail sales and advertisements. I even saw a Christmas commercial for Advil!!! If your son isn't happy with his gift, kindly remind him of the children who wake up to no gifts on Christmas morning, who aren't as lucky as he is that he has parents to spend the day with, much less parents who really care so much about his happiness. Even the children who are lucky to get a new pair of shoes or other essentials because their parents can't afford to buy them any other time of year and afford toys at the same time, much less drop 400.00 to 600.00 on a video game system that will be obselete in a few years anyway. If after all this he is still unhappy, then I am sorry to say, but your son is a spoiled brat, and you need to take that **** back to the store. Then he will learn his lesson. Sorry to get on my soapbox, and as a parent myself I know how good it feels to see your child happy and joyful on Christmas morning. But there are limits and the best gifts you can give him are to teach him sympathy for the people who don't have it as good as he does and he can't always have what he wants

First off, how old is your son? Mine is 6. He would like a ps3, but are you kidding me? It's not about the price. It's about the value of money that he isnt quite old enough to understand yet. Why are you letting your kid be so ungreatful? I dont even let mine play my ps2 personally. I let him play the super nintendo and the sega. He has about 40 games each of those, but thats only because it's taken me my whole short life to get those. I wasnt just given all of that random at Christmas one year. What is the point? Get him some cheap toys from the dollar store, and a few select others....they will get played with and broken just as fast. If your kid is 14, what did he do so great that you need to spend a few thousand bucks on one present? Arent there other ways to tell him you love him? or is he already too spoiled to learn that concept?

I would be thrilled. It has alot better graphics, features and in time great game titles. Although the launch titles are ok. So he won't have as many titles to choose from right away as the 360 but Resistance Fall of Man is suppose to be one of the best launch titles so he should have fun.

Yeah he definitly wont be disappointed, the PS3 blows the XBOX 360 away, plus you said he "settled" for the XBOX...might want to pick up Call of duty 3, resistance fall of man isnt very good.

He doesn't know what you got him, so in theory you could have rushed right out and bought the PS3 right after he asked for it. This is like asking if it will be a problem that you got a white pony instead of a black one. Who cares, it's still a pony. Do you know how many people were not able to get either one. If he doesn't like it, you can sell it for twice what you paid for it, and start a college fund for him.

Your the best Mom. He will be sooo happy. Those are like gold right now. If he doesn't want it, turn around and sell it for more than you payed in your local classifieds. You can't get a PS3 right now. You will make 100's more than you payed if you sell it on ebay. Then you can buy him 360 with alot of games if he likes....

He should be thrilled! A PS3 can Play a lot more things a lot better (blu-ray disks, interactive DVDs with Bluetooth controllers and has HEAPS more RAM and processor speed). If he doesn't like it, tell him to shove it up his a**! (joke, by the way)

well if he wanted the ps3 in the first place and then settled with a 360, i would assume he will be thrilled with the ps3, if hes not you can always return it, but i would assume that he wil be thrilled as you said its what he wanted in the first place
