why not? let them express themselves while they're young and it doesn't matter. They'll have to take it out when they're older and get a real job - and besides, the hole will close up with no permanent damage. If you say no, they may be more likely to rebel and want something more permanent, like a tattoo, or scarification. And it may teach them some responsibility when they have to take care of it (to keep it from getting infected) and especially if you make them pay for it.

My mum told me i could get a piercing when i could sign the consent form for it. Around here thats 16-18 years old. I got my belly button pierced on my 16th birthday. But even other facial piercings i would have to ask my mum first as i was under 18 and living under her roof. I don't really see how at 15 you need to make your own decisions. Would you like to move out and pay food bills, rent, buy your own clothes, clean the house and find your own way to and from school plus stress over every little other thing like money and bills? Is that enough responsibility for you? at 15 the most decisions you have to make is what clothing your going to wear. The most stress you will have is exams. You don't have to worry about earning money or putting food on the table. Also I don't see how you being a virgin, etc takes anything into account and who would be buying the piercing and jewelry you never once mentioned that you had a job. I was working since i was 12. Sometimes cleaning it etc doesnt stop infection. In fact over cleaning can cause rejection and sometimes your body just rejects the piercing. Also if you need a belly ring to be motivation to lose fat that is the most ridiculous thing ive heard. If your not motivated your not going to lose weight simple. No i wouldnt let you have a belly piercing if you were my daughter i would may you wait until you were 16, same rules my mother gave me.

Assuming it would just be a small stud, I do not see any harm in it. It is rather common among even the more conservative teenagers, and is one of the least obvious and gaudy types of piercings. If your teenager feels that will help them express themselves, then I would say let them - just set limits - such as no tongue piercing, for instance, because that can have serious health risks.
You might also want to consider that if you don't let them go though with something small like this, if they are the rebellious type, they might do even more that you may disapprove of. I would say pick your battles - this one is not of a great deal of consequence.

I have a nose ring that I got on my 18th birthday. It's very small and unlike some piercings, it looks petite and pretty - not trashy. It hurt very little to get done (compared to my tongue and bellybutton piercings) and it healed extremely quickly. If she wants to get something pierced, this is definitely the best thing to do.
I think, though, that you should make her pay for it (it's about $30 or so after you pay for the jewelry).

I would say not at the moment,I've had all sorts pirced over the years & after a while 1 by 1 they all came out.
You've odviously gotta find out what the school thinks as when you first get anything pierced you can't take it out for at least 2 months or it'll close.
If you're the parent then ultimately it's your choice

I think it depends on the parents and their relationship with their child.
I personally dont think that the kid is mature enough to realize what they're doing to themselves.
one of my best friends rushed out to get her nose pierced when she started highschool, and now years later, she feels like she shoudl have waited to make that decision a little bit later in life.

No but she is probably going to do it anyway, so its best if you go with her and help her choose the stud that way you know what she is getting instead of her coming home home with a bull bar through her nose. Good luck

Of course, why not, I am guessing it is their choice and this happens to be the proclaimed land of the free. Why not. But you have the final say as a parent. In my opinion.
