Make two scrapbooks. Label one our first x years together. Put in photographs and make silly tags about them. Try to put the photographs in chronological order. Label the second one our next x years together and leave it empty. I received a set where x=5 and it contained some fantastic photographs of our first five years together which I had completely forgotten about. It was a real walk down memory lane and the personalised notes were lovely.
Make something personalised for them. My partner loves After Eight mints and I took them out of the box and iced messages and hearts on them with an icing set I bought at Morrisons. Once dry I put some back in the box (they wouldn't all fit) and then sealed the box back up (I ate the rest!). I've also iced christmas biscuits with messages and hung them on the tree.
Think of what they particularly like and change it. I've been to Woolworths and spent time dodging the staff to get only two varieties of chocolates out of the quality street pick and mix (coffee and strawberry cremes) to make up a chocolate selection that contains only favourites.
Buy a locket (engraved or not) and place photographs of the two of you in it. Have a ring or a bracelet engraved with a personal message on the inside so only they know it is there. I've also given personalised mugs with photographs printed on them, had a treasure hunt on Christmas day where all the presents were hidden around the house including in the freezer, bought a framed print of a favourite painting we'd been looking for for years and even done the favourite of providing personalised vouchers for sexual and housekeeping favours!
Only you can know what your partner would like but so long as you think of something that would mean a lot to them and spend time and make an effort, it will be a success. The love is in the thought and the planning not necessarily the outcome!

Have some red roses delivered, have a Christmas bow on them. A flower arrangement with a candle in it would be nice, too. I saw one that had a glass chimney over a fairly large candle, with some pine greenery around it and some bows and ornaments tied in the pine. If money is limited, red carnations are nice, too. The florist can advise you how to arrange them for Christmas. Get her something for under the tree, too.
Jewelry works for most women, a necklace with a diamond heart is stylish. A diamond tennis bracelet is always good. Both of these come in many price ranges, depending on where you shop, jewelry store, department store, or discount store.
A beautiful peignoir set[that means a long slinky, silky nightgown with matching robe], in red, if she likes red, would be nice. Go for an elegant, not too sexy look.Try the department stores, or Victoria's Secret. Tell the sales person what you want. Some of her favorite perfume, or a spa type bubble bath and lotion set to go with it, with some little candles. Give her a IOU card, with the promise that you will give her time to herself to enjoy the spa gift.
A new car would be a romantic gift to give me, a red Pontiac G6 would do just fine. If I keep saying this, Santa will surely see it and deliver! LOL, Merry Christmas to you and your special lady.

I agree with the others. Something that I really wanted is a great present. It may only be something I mentioned in passing, but to know I have been listened to is wonderful! I only wear one type of perfume and have done for years. My hubby always buys me enough supply to last until my birthday in June when he buys me more! Its a bit of a tradition, but I love knowing that he knows me so well.
For something a bit bigger, jewellery is always a winner, it doesnt matter how much of the stuff I have, putting on a new item and being able to say my husband chose it is one of the most romantic things ever.
Finally. Tickets for something that he knows I will love - with him coming with me (eg concert) is lovely. Or perhaps a weekend away somewhere I have always wanted to go?

ok . beforehand I say some thing , i'm basically 13, don't have a boyfriend and a unusual female at that . Do some thing that's personal to you and her, for instance make a scrapbook of all of your options, write a music/ poem for her, even make a school of photos of you 2 at the same time or issues that remind you 2 of options, i do not understand a lot yet i'm confident this would recommend a lot extra to her than a handbag besides the indisputable fact that severe priced :D

It depends what sort of person they are, but ladies do like jewellery you could get her a piece of jewellery and have it engraved with something personal.
e.g. When my husband then boyfriend were first going out my first valentines gift was to have a single red rose delivered and I put on the card "Just because 'Your gorgeous' and I'll love you 'Always and Forever' " It was our mutual love of music that had helped get us together and they were the titles of two current songs we both liked. (He's still got the card, and this valentine's it'll be ten years since I sent it)

For me the most romantic gifts at Christmas are those things that I really want. (not necessarily expensive stuff either)
It shows that my partner has listened to me and that makes me feel valued and loved.

Okay, this may sound a little silly, but take her to Build -A-Bear. Let her pick out the animal she likes. Put a romantic message just for her on the message recorder. Then let her dress it up. I know this works, 'cause my sis-in-law's boyfriend did it for her, and she loved it!
