Use CLR like someone else said

Or a home remedy is to fill a baggie with vinegar, tie it around the showerhead overnight so it's emmersed in it, and in the morning the showerhead will not have the build up.

It sounds as though you have lots of minerals in your water or maybe rust. To remove the mineral and rust deposits, simply remove the shower head and immerse in a half and half solution of CLR. If you read the bottle, you will find the the L and R stand for lime and rust. Be sure to soak/rinse the shower head before re-use. If the shower head is made of plastic, make sure to do a test application of the CLR so you will know if it will cause damage to the plastic. Try a wooden toothpick to dislodge the larger debris from the shower spray. You have only delayed the inevitable, as the problem is in either your rusty pipes or mineral filled water. Re-fitting with copper pipes instead of galvanised pipe or using a water softener may prevent further problems. If you own the property and plan on staying I would recommend this. If you are a tenant, call your landlord or move. Remember, the water that is clogging the shower head is also being used to wash your clothes, bathe or shower in and prepare your food or being swallowed when you drink it. Your skin is your largest organ and drinking it is not so healthy either. After you remove the cause of the problem, you may wish to consider a water filter. They are available for whole house and for drinking. Check it out on line!

Take a plastic bag, not too big, like a zip lock or sandwich bag. Fill it with vinegar and put it onto the shower head with a rubber band real tight so the head is immersed in the vinegar. Leave it overnight and the next morning the clogging will be gone as well as any mineral buildup on the shower head.

Put the shower head into a mixture of warm water and white vinegar. This will clean some of the lime deposits. You should do it once a month and maybe you should consider a water filter installed in your house. Also see the link for more natural cleaners.

Hi! I also have to say CLR! Pour CLR into a bowl or bucket. Remove shower head and place the unit into the CLR. Let it soak for 10 minutes or so. Put rubber gloves on your hands, get an old toothbrush, and just sweep off the buildup from any crevices. Rinse with hot water, re-attach! Voila!
* If you cant get the head off, hold the bucket of CLR with the head immersed. Be careful !!!

Sounds like you have debris coming through the pipe. When you take the head off, just clean out any debris you see in the neck and re-install.

Use CLR or Lime Away. Just soak the head for a few minutes and it will be as good as new.

try using baking soda and vinager, it will fizz up, i tryed it and it worked, or use the lime away as listed earlier. you might even want to invest in a water softener that could help alot too, no hard water building up.
