you could probably get an annullment. but i dont know how those go. but i'm going through a divorce i'm doing myself. you can do like i did. if its uncontested (you agree on everything) buy a kit from staples for about $30. fill out the paper work and retype it to make it neat. then file it at court. it cost me $150. he probably will still have to be served with the papers. at least in my county its mandatory for him to be served. and then 30 days later you get a date and go from there. it beats getting a lawyer which costs at least $3000

It should be relatively inexpensive and you may be able to hire an attorney on an uncontested basis.
If that is the case and everyone is going to keep what they brought into the marriage it probably should cost you $500-700 plus the filing fee of $150.
However remember this, lets say you brought the home into the marriage its in your name and you put $5,000 into it a month after you move in but you take it out of a marital account or you both pay the mortgage it can be split up.
I am assuming when you said the only thing we have is a title of married things can operate outside of just that title.
You may think well I can do it myself but if you do it yourself and something gets messed up it can costs thousands to fix so I would contact a lawyer if I were you most give a free consultation.

An uncontested divorce is less expensive. That means you both go to the lawyer he draws it up and you both sign. No problems, less money. Just the lawyer fee and a filing fee. If you want to know the cost all you need to do is call a lawyer and ask how much for an uncontested divorce. Call three or four, there is no standard fee. Some will be less expensive.

Legally it would be the same, it should be easier without all the possesions. You'll probably have a first hearing in fornt of someone who is not a judge just to see if everyone is in agreement. If not you'll have to have a court-mandated magistrate where you try to reconcile any stipulations in the divorce agreements. After that you'll have the final court meeting with a judge. The whole process takes about three months. Good luck!

I don't think you need a lawyer for no fault divorce. If there is a reason for the marriage to end, then you might qualify for an annulment. If not you would probably have to get a no fault divorce, which basically says it just didn't work.

Its very easy and very cheap then. I think most states have no fault so you get the papers, fill em out, sign em and record them. In CA the divorce is final six months later....
Oh the other thing, if you file for a legal seperation you are legally considered single for tax purposes....that way you can both file single when you file your taxes next year for this year.....so if you are going to do it, do it this week or next!

should be able to do an uncontested divorce. go to your local clerk of court website and download the forms, fill them out and take them there ( courthouse) or call the family law division in your courthouse. You do not have to pay a lawyer you can do it yourself. Usu a div. costs $150.

I divorced after one of those marriages where we didn't have any property or kids. It is cheaper and simpler. In NC neither of us had to go to court or anything since we didn't contest it. Just settle the title thing and sign it over.
