It's not such a weird question, Meg, although I can never see a motion being passed for this to be the case.

When I was a kid, we also used to eat Maccas, KFC and others BUT it was for special occasions only. It was for birthdays or a treat, not a once a week thing (or more often) that seems to be the norm for kids now days.

It's a shame that processed, fast foods are becoming the norm now in society - more normal than a home cooked meal, which is kind of disturbing.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned

Edit - just had to add that although an age limit for kids is not the answer, but there should be a heavy crackdown on the gross level of propagandic material that goes in to the advertising of fast food chains.

To try and enforce this is ridiculous. Come on, you want an underage sheriffs card. My son would not eat anything healthy once he started kindergarten. If it wasn't a burger or fries, he was not hungry. As a result and his schedule. my kid ate fast food a lot when he was of school age but his cholesterol was and still is always low.

My secret-- he did not have video games until he was 13, he was active, hockey, karate, swimming, tennis, lacrosse, golf, racquetball. Which was why he ate fast food, so he could make all of these activities.

He was hyperactive and a born jock. His weight was always light for his height, then when the hormones kicked in...he got tons of muscle, now he is 6'2" about 205-210 and solid. His body fat is < 10%.

an age limit? way over the top. education in schools about obesity defenatly a good idea. parents need to be educated more than anybody though. parents these days are too busy to cook as well so maybe places like mcdonalds could have a healthy choices kids menu, that way the parents have no excuses

Definitely not. Similarly, I cannot believe that New York passed that anti-transfat law. C'mon people - where is the personal responsibility? There are a lot of people that frequent fast food restaurants often and/or occassionally and they are not obese. The answer to solving problems is not by taking away our freedom. It is education! Look at smoking...cigarettes are still legally sold but the numbers of smokers have decreased tremendously over the past few decades. Let's look at why that happened - it wasn't a result of banning the product!
That being said, I think a great step to fighting obesity is for fast-food restaurants to be mandated to post nutrition guides for all of their products! (Education!!!)

No but parents should limit how many times their children eat fast food in a month to 4.

No; I can't imagine what a nightmare it would be to constantly have to prove a child's age. Parents are responsible for the health of their children. They should decide how much and at what age their kids eat fast food.

No, but there should be an age limit to kids for the internet.

Since porn is not regulated and not restricted on here, kids under 18 should not be allowed on the internet, period. We don't let them walk into a nudy bar prior to 18 so why should we allow them to see more on here then they would ever see in a nudy bar?

Kids should be kids, playing, having fun, just being a kid, save the internet for when they are adults and the fun is 1/2 gone.
