Very easy. The USA government and similar people seized half of Mexico and Florida and forbid the use of Spanish, something that we still can see in the media nowadays.
Concerning Canada, Spain did not get there

The Spanish were trying to invade England in 1588 but were unsuccessful and lost about half their fleet. Before that time they controlled the seas. They never recovered and the British too their place as masters of the seas and slowly they lost their Americans possessions.

They did control most of the Americas (that is why from Mexico on down (except Brazil) most speak Spanish. But because of the lack of Sea power they could not keep it from other European and American powers.

The Spaniards only conquered parts of Mexico, central and South America and in fact in the Inca empire the Spaniards used Quechua as a unifying language as over 100 different tribal languages were spoken in the region they conquered. Then the Portuguese also invaded what is now Brasil and the English did so as well. People are extraordinarly resistant to accepting new langauges. Language is the bed-rock of one's culture. eg We will lose Gaelic culture when we lose the Gaelic language. "Chaylla jina cachun", as they say in Quechua, or "asi es", in Spanish or "that's so" in English

As regards the wicked, they are going to be decrease off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they are going to be torn faraway from it.” (Daniel 2:40 4) “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom it is surely no longer brought to smash. Mostly because of the 1891 Adams-Onis treaty that ceded much of today's American southwest to the U.S., American acquisition of the Louisiana purchase (which France gained previously from Spain), the American victory in the Spanish-American war, which liberated several Latin American countries from Spanish influence, and the achievement of independence from Spain of many Latin American countries.

All of these factors effectively ended Spanish influence in the Americas, and while Spanish or Portuguese became the predominant language in many of these countries in North America English took root from the British-Americans who spread westward from the original 13 colonies (as well as from the British influence on Canada).

Because they couldn't sustain their dominance due to the collapse of their currency because of all the gold returned to Spain by the early explorers.
The English invaded North America where the opportunities for expansion were greater and became the dominant colonists in that area.

Same reason we don't speak the language of the Vikings or the Romans.
Its an on going battle for control, empires rise an fall.
The main reason for Spain is the same as most, they stretched themselves to far an had to return to issues closer to home.
