The Fortune 500 is a list of the top 500 U.S. companies ranked by revenues. They also take that list in the magazine and re-categorize by several different things such State, industry, etc. The Fortune website let's you easily resort and play around with the rankings, too. See http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune500/full_list/. Fortune also has a Global 500 list and many other lists as well.
