No it's not true. It's just a sport. Both girls and boys play hockey and sexual preference has nothing to do with it. Since there is a wide spectrum of individuals playing, there will be both straights and gays, but is not a gay dominant sport. If anything, hockey is one of the more brutish sports and would have a number of gay females, but few gay males.

Your friends need to grow up and get a life. Also, friends are supportive of their friends endeavours and a real friend wouldn't trash something their friend values and enjoys. You may want to look for friends worthy of your time.

p.s. I've never heard that about hockey, but have heard that about football because the players pat each other on the bottom... but it's not said with any amount of seriousness.

Hey, good for you. Someone in Mexico has good tastes! Think about it this way: do fags beat the crap out of each other on ice until they're bloodied? Do they sacrifice their bodies and ignore extreme pain to win a game?

If anything, BASEBALL is gay. They sit around doing nothing while getting paid riciulous amounts of money. They cry like a baby and is placed on a 15-day disabled list whenever they have a sprained thumb or broke a nail. It's not even a fun "sport" to watch either. You wait five minutes for some guy to throw the ball to another guy. So what? It's basically NASCAR: there's no point to it.

If your friends make fun of you and say that hockey is gay, you should seriously consider finding new friends. There isn't a single thing "homosexual" about hockey, and sentiments such as those voiced by your "friends" smack of jealousy, ignorance and stupidity. Ignorant people all over the world slam things they don't understand, berate things they wish they could have but cannot, and insult people who find happiness in what they do. Hockey is tremendously fun to play, takes a rare combination of skill, athleticism and brains (despite the common misconception of "dumb hockey players") and provides a workout you simply can't find in any other activity. Tell your "friends" to put on full gear and spend five minutes trying to play the game, and watch their ridicule turn to admiration.

My big bro has been playing hockey since I was six. I have yet to meet a gay hockey player. He has played on just about every type of elite team, all over the US. he has even gone to the jr olympics and played for team usa. Still have yet to meet a gay hockey player. I am a drama kid, and surrounded by them on a daily basis. in fact, for a while the majority of my friends were either gay or bi. I have seen the whole spectrum, and they don't really like to be hit, or do anything that would mess with their beauty. Hockey just isnt their sport.

Saying that 'Hockey is gay!' Would get you beat up in most bars in Canada. The world is looking for a Mexican Gretzky. Good Luck. In Canada, hockey is a way of life for lots of people. The backyard rink, early morning practices, Saturday games and heading home for Hockey Night in Canada on CBC. Don Cherry is the man. Its a family thing. You are born into it. It is an unofficial religion to most 'hockey' families. Hockey has made a lot of men into men, with it's character building, team work and athleticism. You have to learn to lose gracefully and win humbly. It teaches that hard work pays off. It teaches sportsmanship and honour.
After all, the Taliban doesn't play hockey.

Hockey is much more manly than soccer. In hockey, you get hit, knocked down, and then you get up to keep playing. In soccer, someone breaths on you, you fall down, it is a foul. I watched the World Cup, those guys are weak compared to hockey players.

Hockey also takes a great deal of skill to perfect. You must learn to skate well, shoot a small black puck with a stick into a small goal, work as a team with other players, and stay on your feet when you inevitablely get checked.

Hockey is one of the roughest sports. Ever see a game? They let them fight as long as they are on their feet. Hockey has been traditionally a Canadian sport and some nortern US cities like Boston, Ny, Chicago, Detroit. Now with tv it has moved south to all us states. Your friends probably confuse hockey with figure skating where they maybe right. I'll bet if they would never dare call a hxokey player a fag to his face. Good luck with it. Keep it up we need more latino players.

I like hockey. I don't get a chance to watch much. I watch my children's games. They play floor hockey and are on the number one team. So, exciting.
