the people that hate hockey its only because they cant play, one day in there life's they probably tried to skate and kept falling on the ice and gave up the sport. those are the people that put hockey down they just never give it a chance. i bet you if you can give everyone free skates and a rink to skate on for a month for free then you will see more and more people liking hockey. hockey is the greatest sport in the world and to the people that don't agree haven't given it a shot.

For the same reason they hate soccer, both are physically challenging games they can't play and even be somewhat decent at.
They will say things like "its boring" but will sit for 3 hours watching a football game go 6-3 (3 total scores) of course they are too stupid to realize that a 2-1 hockey or soccer match had just as much scoring and that a goal is more exciting that some dork kicker (who couldn't play pro soccer) kick a ball over a bar.

Most people hate it because they don't understand it. They'll say things such as "It's boring" yet that same person likes Football or worst yet baseball. They'll says "It's violent" yet only a very small part of the game is violent unlike football. That same person might even like Rugby. One of the biggest things about it is that most people don't understand and sometime cannot skate so they hate the game based on ignorance.

I guess the majority of people who hate are from the southern US. I imagine its cause its too hard to follow for them. They prefer Nascar, which is great, if you like watching cars go in circles for 4 hours. Or football (american of course), where there is about 10 minutes of total playing time throughout a game. Basically they enjoy things that don't require much thought.
