how can you tell which is soluble or not in a test? When they ask you if it's percipitated or solid?

The general rule is that if the solute-solute bond, solvent-solvent bond and solute-solvent bond are identical, the solute will dissolve.

Of course another way to understand would be if the bond of the solute and solvent is of different energy level, you can generally say that the solute is NOT soluble. It will either form suspension or colloid.
