Nope. It was created out of first-fruits celebrations, so anybody that eats could celebrate it I should think.

Kwanzaa was created based on the basic African principles of unity, self-determination, collective work, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith. So, no, you don't have to be African-American! If those are values to which you also subscribe, then of course you can celebrate. One of the wonderful things about the United States is that we are made up of many different nationalities and we tend to piggy-back on each other's cultures. For example, there's the saying that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. We all love the Chinese New Year parades and who doesn't enjoy a fabulous trip into the local Italian eatery where everybody is family?
So, get your family together and celebrate the values of Kwanzaa, even if you don't use the candles, garb, etc. It's still a great way to end one year and bring in the new one. (An added bonus is the great food!)

Since all holidays are completly made up anyway even Christmas (be they made up for a religious points, geographic celebration from taking over someone elses land, or corporate hopes for getting our money), anyone can celebrate anything if it makes them feel good and keeps them out of trouble in my humble REALISTIC Ph.D. opinion. I think we should reach beyond our small personal worlds to find out about and celebrate the important dates of different people. Thats what we people in the educational field call creating an understanding, in hopes of ridding the planet of stereotypes and ignorance.
The End

No. This year I am going out as "Blackface" to celebrate Kwanzaa. All you need is some shoe polish and an afro wig.

Technically, no. You don't have to be black to celebrate Kwanzaa. It may have been meant to for African-Americans to celebrate some African traditions, but anyone can celebrate it

Well, why would you celebrate it in the first place? It was invented in 1957 for God's sake. I believe you have to be Christian to celebrate Christmas. I ain't celebrating Hannukah. You know why? Cuz' I ain't a Jew!

No. You can be what ever color you want to be and still celebrate Kwanza. But, only someone who is black would be stupid enough to celebrate a made up holiday like Kwanza.

No, but it is a celebration of African American culture. So, do you have to be Jewish to celebrate Hannakah(sp?). If you don't approach it with a desire to create an upwardly mobile family and community grounded in an African based culture, then you have no reason to celebrate it.
