alright thanks for the help but let me refraise my question. I know that the 3rd generation preludes (2.0 si)'s have B20A5 motors and that they sit 18 deg, firewall, and that their not exactly b series ect... what I want to know is if any of the other's fit (can a b16/b18 whatever just pop right in) OR do only the 20's work?

^ wrong, K series will not fit, it has been tried and failed. A B18 has been done, but is the most expensive route and you lose displacement in the process.

I have 2 3rd gens, and know these cars very well, hence my s/n being BA4, the 3g chassis code. The only engine that would be worth the trouble of swapping in would be the H22. And of course if you can swap an H-series, you can also use the mounts for an F-series. The only F-series that is useful for power is the F22B, and it's only good for Boost.

The only drop in motor would be the B20A(3,5) and B21A1. Not the CRV B20b/z. The B20a3 is the prelude S or carbed lude. B20a5 is the most common found throughout 88-91. Also in 90 and 91, Honda introduced the "bigger" oil burning B21a1, which I have. The B21 have no secondary runners in the intake manifold. And have FRM sleeves which are stronger, but eat up piston rings.

There is also a JDM accord B20A that doesnt bolt up to our 3g bay.

Our B series share almost no relation to the other B series engines without series modification. We are closer related to the H series engine.

The H22 swap has been done before, but you suffer the lost of P/S or A/C depending on which one you want. Also changing your timing belt results in dropping the engine. The down pipe is very close to ground at stock ride height. So a lowered lude would be out of the question.

Im on a forum called Preludepower.com, and we just had a group buy for H22 mounts for our 3gs. Other than the mounts you need axles/ecu/custom shifting bracket and some extra wiring. Check out the site it is very informative.

Here is a link on the mounts....

well prob not just drop right in. but yes u can put b, f, h and k series motors in there. it all depends on how deep your pockets are. just remember that clearence is going to be an issue though.
