That´s nice finding someone interested in speaking Portuguese. I´m brazilian and I got really surprised with that. Well, your mom gave you a great idea, you can learn a lot with films, but leave the subtitles on, so that you can compare what you listen to to how you write that. If you like the brazilian soap operas, it´s a good choice, because you have a long sequence of episodes what means much more material to learn that a simple movie.

Barnes and Noble might carry some, they have an awful lot of portuguese cd's.....I don't know where you live but, if it's new jersey. ferry street is just a little bit of portugal and a little bit of brazil....Did your parents see City of God? Incredible true movie, in brazilian about rio de janeiro's favelas and the people that have to live there and the war on drug dealers....its pretty good. Suncoast had it....you could try that too, ask them about ordering movies for you, if they don't have it in the store....just ask them to look up foreign films, should not be hard at all.Ate mais!!!!!
