$1300 a month just for rent? that'll get you a nice place here in chicago. Otherwise, I would suggest a college town. There are usually some decent apartments to be had for not-so-outrageous rent prices, and the neighborhoods aren't too bad, either.

type in on the web " affordable living in "whatever town you want to move". Sad thing is the government are offering persons subsidized rent called, Section 8. Where a portion of your rent is knocked off or you live there rent free according to your income. That said, rental property companies are charging out of the roof b/c they know they are getting this "sho" money form the government, all the while foresaking those that have to pay out of pocket. Try www.apartments.com
If you are going to spend that amount of money, why not purchase a home? It will give you great returns on your taxes, has great perks as far as being a homeowner as opposed to a renter and if you and your roomie ever decide to split, you can rent it out or sell; pay youself first! There are first time homebuyer programs out there that will give you down payment assistance, closing costs, and up to 25, 000 off the total price of your home. If you are interested in purchasing a home, e-mail me and I will send you a step-by step- guide to homeownership.

What state are you in? ARIZONA? You should be able to find something for 1300 in the friggin' desert. If not, you could always move to Lancaster, California & get a place in their desert!!!

Rent is higher in the larger cities. The suburban areas are high as well. Move down south where things are cheaper.
